About Smythsons Cafe (Words from Rosemary)
Smythson’s is a mixture between a coffee shop, café and deli. At Smythson’s we offer a mix of homemade and delicatessen cakes along with our own brand of coffee (created with Limini Coffee) which means it is fairtrade as well as high quality. For us it is all about providing good quality food and products but at an accessible price. This is also why we stock Kandula teas, a company with a wide range of quality herbal infusion and traditional teas that are bursting with flavour. The company’s ethos is not only about fairtrade and high quality but they also use their profits to help their elephant sanctuary in Sri Lanka.
Smythson’s was taken over by myself, Rosemary May, in 2013 to provide a high quality independent coffee shop/deli to both students and university staff in Nottingham. As a graduate of Film and Television Studies from The University of Nottingham I knew there was a demand for high quality products that supported fairtrade and the environment. My degree had given me a keen interest in marketing, and baking had always been a hobby of mine, so with the help and support of friends and family I decided to try running Smythson’s café.
